The new regulations of the Directorate General of Traffic have brought long-awaited developments<\/strong> such as the legalization of intercoms or “certified or approved wireless devices for use in the protective helmet of motorcycle and moped drivers<\/strong>, for communication or navigation purposes, provided that it does not affect driving safety.”<\/p> \n \n

Intercoms are now legal in Spain<\/h2> \n \n

For years, bikers have seen technology improve ahead of legal possibilities.<\/strong> Technology has incorporated elements such as GPS in vehicles, which helps us move through unknown places without looking at a map, without getting lost and without taking our eyes off the road, or hands-free devices, with which we can answer calls without stopping driving, although we will always recommend waiting for a stop.<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

However, the latter have seen their arrival on motorcycles legally delayed. The technology existed, incorporating tiny speakers in helmets and microphones, however, traffic regulations prevented it by considering that they could affect the driver’s capabilities.<\/strong> <\/p> \n \n

That is, the regulations prevented it to prevent motorcycle drivers from using these elements preventing listening to the elements that surrounded them,<\/strong> but also implying that they could not listen to the indications of a GPS or communicate with other colleagues on their outings.<\/p> \n \n

The new regulations allow them, but with exceptions<\/h2> \n \n

With the change of the DGT regulations<\/a>, we can enjoy our intercoms and hands-free devices without exposing ourselves to a fine, as long as we use them for communication or navigation purposes.<\/strong><\/p> \n \n
